Brainy's BullCharts Workshops

Robert is the convenor of  the Australian BullCharts User Group, and is now running hands-on BullCharts Workshops in Melbourne. This is a series of six separate 2-hour workshops on Friday evenings, covering the use of the BullCharts share price charting software for company share price performance analysis, and stock selection (all Australian listed securities).  You can undertake just one workshop, or any number of them, or all.  Summary list of dates and venues on this page. Workshop #1 BullCharts software introduction — seminar and workshop A seminar/workshop that gives a good overview of the BullCharts share price charting software. How to view price charts for all Australian listed companies. How to select companies/stocks for investment and how to analyse their share price performance. More details below. Workshop #2 Share price chart basics workshop (and indicators intro) Learn how to use BullCharts software to study share price performance. Place line studies and price indicator tools on price charts as a part of the analysis of share price performance. Learn how to manage watchlists of your preferred companies. Includes: searching for company ASX stock codes, the ins and outs of the price chart, chart types (candles, bars, line), templates and an introduction to price chart indicators (including Moving Average). More details below.  Workshop #3 Price chart advanced features workshop Learn how to use advanced features of the BullCharts software for advanced analysis of share price performance of publicly listed companies. Includes: many different chart types (Gann Swing, Point and Figure, Kagi, etc.), the live data option, IntelliCharts feature, multiple window panes, workspaces and more. More details below. Workshop #4 Price chart indicators — advanced workshop Learn more about the 200+ indicators that are included in the BullCharts software package, and how to fine tune them. Moving Average, Momentum, RSI, Bollinger Bands, MACD, and more. Indicators also include: various ribbons and bands. Some indicators are based on the strategies of famous book authors (eg. Guppy, Berg, Hull, Weinstein, Elder, Wilson, etc.). More details below. Workshop #5 Market Scans (filters) to find preferred stocks — Introduction How to use the BullCharts share price charting software to search for stocks with favourable share prices. The BullCharts scanning feature comprises easy-to-use drop-down selections to identify those stocks with share price behaviour matching your stock selection criteria. It also includes more than 100 supplied scans that are ready for you to easily customise, some of which are based on famous book author strategies. More details below. Workshop #6  Market Scans — Implementing your trading strategy Already armed with the skills and knowledge to use the BullCharts scanning feature, this workshop will work through creating new scans based on sample trading strategy criteria. For example, your strategy might be to buy stocks that are confirmed to be in an uptrend, and exhibiting strength compared to the rest of the market. More details below. BullCharts information? MORE WORKSHOP DETAILS Workshop #1 — BullCharts software introduction — seminar and workshop Overview Who should attend? The main purpose of this workshop/ seminar is to "demonstrate" the key features of the BullCharts software. There will be computers with BullCharts available for use, if you want to use it. Otherwise, simply watch the demonstration and make notes in the hand-out booklet. Key features of various charting packages (using BullCharts as an example). A solid introduction to the BullCharts share price charting software. Price Charts, and the features available with the chart (text, annotations, colours, lines, etc.). The BullCharts "IntelliCharts" feature, to automatically save annotations to price charts. An introduction to Watchlists in BullCharts - the hierarchical folder structure; creating new, renaming, adding stock codes to watchlists, using colours to advantage. An introduction to creating and running Scans to select stocks for investing. An introduction to technical analysis indicators (like Moving Average and MACD, etc.) - some basic ones and the chart options. An introduction to the built-in Author Stategies. Anyone who wants a detailed look at the capabilities of today's share price charting software packages. Anyone who wants to understand what BullCharts software can do. Newer BullCharts users who want to become familiar with the broad range of features of the BullCharts software. Workshop #2 — Share price chart basics workshop (and indicators intro) Overview Who should attend? This hands-on workshop will very quickly skim over the introductory topics presented in Workshop #1, and will then spend time investigating some of them in more detail.  The session is flexible to suit the audience. Price Charts, and the features available with the chart (text, annotations, colours, lines, etc.). Time axis and Price axis options. How to place various line studies on the chart, including text annotations, and the different options for storing the annotations (either Save-As, or use IntelliCharts). Useful drawing tools - the Rulers, Trend lines and Channels (and the parameters). Fibonacci Tools. Security Manager - in depth. Watchlists in BullCharts - the hierarchical folder structure; creating new, renaming, adding stock codes to watchlists, using colours to advantage. Watchlist slideshow feature. The BullCharts "IntelliCharts" feature, to automatically save annotations to price charts. Introduction to indicators - Insert, Delete, Change parameters. BullCharts > Tools > Preferences options. Training mode. Newer BullCharts users who want to learn more about the key features of the BullCharts software. More advanced users of BullCharts who want to update their knowledge of BullCharts. Workshop #3 — Price chart advanced features workshop Overview Who should attend? Different chart types (Gann Swing, Point and Figure, Kagi, etc.). Line studies drawing tools - more details (Gann, Levels, Cycles). The live data option. Security Manager and Watchlists - Indexes, Index composition, Industry groups. Advanced use of the watchlists. Price overlay (security or index on security, etc.) Alert Manager Notepad IntelliCharts - more details (eg. save for different Time periods). Multiple window panes (multiple monitors) - Float window, stack panes. Workspaces - Saving, and using the Workspace Manager. Templates - how to create and add to Templates Toolbar. TradeSim - introduction. Keyboard shortcuts. Web-based reports - Map of Market, etc. Backup and Restore your BullCharts data. Upgrading BullCharts from old version to new. BullCharts users who want to learn more about some of the not-so-obvious BullCharts features. Users who want to see the newer features in the latest version. Workshop #4 — Price chart indicators — advanced workshop Overview Who should attend? Technical Analysis indicators - what are they? Indicator types -Trend, Momentum, Oscillator, Volatility, Volume. Common indicators - eg. Moving Average (MA), Multiple Moving Average (MMA), Bollinger Bands, RSI, On Balance Volume (OBV), MACD. The Candle pattern indicator. Other indicators and indicator features (eg. ribbons, bands). Indicators and indicator strategies based on Author Strategies (eg. Guppy, Hull, Weinstein, Elder, Wilson, etc.). Insert and Delete indicators. Indicator parameters to customise and fine tune. Add indicator to different chart pane. Customise indicator toolbar. Apply Weekly indicator to Daily chart. Overlay indicator on indicator (eg. MACD and MACD Histogram). Indicator Markers. The Indicator Builder. BullCharts users who want to learn more about indicators, and the options for customising the indicators.

Workshop #5 — Market Scans (filters) to find preferred stocks Overview Who should attend? A detailed look at BullChart Scans (BullScan). Run an Author Scan, and modiy it. Study the Scan Results Table and the default chart. The "Last Scan Results" watchlist. The "Default Scan Group". Explore and modify the Author Scans. How to copy or modify an existing Scan. How to create a new Scan. How to categorise the Scan (by Category, or Author). An introductory look at scan criteria. Scanning on fundamental values. Scanning for technical analysis indicator features. Running the scan - monitor progress, and stopping the scan. Testing the scan (tick criteria on/off). Advanced scan features (optional criteria with weighting). Multi-scan - Running two (or more) scans one after the other (using the results from one as input into the next). BullCharts users who want to learn more about the BullScan feature - for scanning the price data. That is, to filter out stocks of specific interest based on certain criteria.

Workshop #6 — Market Scans — Implementing your trading strategy Overview Who should attend? An introduction to trading plans and strategies. How to visualise a price chart that depicts a stock which matches your trading strategy. Re-cap scan basics. Cover advanced scan features. Entities to scan and compare (price, chart features, indicators, indicator signals, fundamentals, BullScript). Discuss a sample trading stategy (it can be your own, or one supplied). How to write a BullCharts Scan to search for stocks that match these selection criteria. Debug and develop the scan to completion. "Match all criteria"? "Advanced" tab options - Sort oder, Number of bars to load, Generate Bull Script. How to test the strategy and Scan. How to speed up the execution of your scan. BullCharts users who want to learn more about how to prepare their trading strategy, and write and test a BullCharts scan to search for matching stocks.
