A note about Search Engines, Portals and Directory Web sites:

  1. These types of Web sites are continually adding new features to attract you, the Web surfer, to return again and again. Some started out as just search engine facilities, and then added portal features. Some are actually meta-search engines.
  2. Have a good look at some of the above-listed Web sites. Many have two ways to find information:
    1. enter some text in the Search field (and be aware of the Advanced Search capabilities offered by many search engines); OR
    2. look at the list of subject headings, and click on one to view a list of sub-categories.
  3. You are able to add an entry to their list of Web sites. Look for the "add URL" feature.
  4. * - See the notes near the top for more information about Search Engines.
The appearance above of various search engine and portal Web sites is not an endorsement of them.
