Brainy's e-Newsletter Number 2 - November 2008

Latest News

BullCharts version 3.8 is now in the latest stage of beta testing and is nearly ready for release. I have been testing it on my own desktop for a while now.  There are some tweaks and new features that will be very useful - more details soon.

Are you "share_market_ready"?  I have written a checklist to help you prepare -
available for free here.

This months eNewsletter articles:

Are available online for you to download, just like the articles in eNewsletter number 1, provided you are a subscriber in which case you will have received an email with the download details.  For Issue number 1, see the links in the right-hand column.

To access this month's articles you need to be a subscriber.  A lot of work goes into their preparation, so we can't just give them away for free.

How to download them?

You need to subscribe. If you are already a subscriber you should have already received an email with the special link. If you have not yet subscribed, you can do that online via Brainy's Online Shop.

For more details of how this eNewsletter thing works, refer to the
e-Newsletter Intro sheet.

This month, there are a number of documents available for you to download. A bief description follows below.

See the links in the right-hand column to download the first month's articles for FREE! and a link to preview the current month's articles.

Share Trading Topics

Included in this month's e-Newsletter package are two articles related to share trading:

  • Trading styles - How to determine your trading style. This is important to help answer some of those early questions. The 3-page article includes Brainy's "Trading Styles Worksheet" for you to print out and help work through it.
  • Trading plans - a 4-page article on trading plans, including Brainy's 2-page Trading Plan Template.  This will help you to quickly pull together a trading plan, and prepare you for the next step along the road to being share_market_ready.
Technical Analysis topics

In this month's article we look at the P-SAR indicator.  That is, the Parabolic Stop and Reverse, used to assist with setting stop loss points.  The article includes information on the parameters that can be fine tuned to adjust the actual P-SAR values that are calculated.

BullCharts software Information

In the BullCharts articles this month we look at the scanning feature - BullScan.  There are two articles:

  • A sample author scan - We take one of the many supplied author scans, and explain the options, and run it to explore the results.  The sample we use is a breakout strategy, in anticipation that we might see some of these over the coming months as the current bear market comes to an end, and the next bull market thinks about starting.
  • The second article is a variation of the author scan.  We walk through changing the scan criteria and some other items to see what sort of flexibility we have with the BullScan features.

Why BullCharts?

I reviewed the available charting software packages in 2005, and I chose BullCharts as my charting package of choice. My reasons for choosing BullCharts were valid then and are still valid. They are listed on my web site.

What is BullCharts?

The official BullCharts web site says: “BullCharts is an innovative charting and technical analysis system. It provides a feature rich and powerful set of tools with access to the latest strategies from local and overseas authors in analysing the dynamics of the stock market.”

You need to subscribe?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to provide all this information for free. To receive the e-Newsletter package each month you need to subscribe. The good news? The rates are very reasonable.

Not convinced?

The full newsletter articles are only available by subscription. It's great value for money! Better than buying another text book that you might not find time to read. By studying Brainy's articles as they become available each month you will effectively be learning about trading and technical analysis and BullCharts in bite-size pieces each month.

Feel free to download all the freebies.

Why not download the preview of the current month's articles, and then decide?

Whatever you read on this topic, and wherever you read it,
there are some people somewhere who might try to tell you that it is rubbish.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
What they really mean to say is either "it is not for me", or
"I do not believe that to be true" (because they have not yet been convinced).
The bottom line is: "There is not one right answer, and different people have different opinions."
